Ladies and Gents, I have returned.
‘Where have you been?!’, I hear you cry. I have been otherwise engaged. Moved to London, done some stuff, run another perfectly smooth MTL draft etc. etc.
Although I may long for my student days, where MTL updates were long and plentiful, sadly these will have to be reduced to every other week going forward. I have not the time.
No more time wasting, let’s get straight to it.
Week 2 Standings
Where to start?! I’m very proud to say that the MTL has moved from strength to strength this offseason, and things are looking very bright in the beginning of our third season. The Commissioner and his deputies drafted an iron-clad Constitution which was signed off by all owners, and the 3rd Annual MTL Draft went off without a hitch! There was even a hyper complicated trade between the Trossachs Tantrum and the Forfar Farrakahns, including various switched picks and much confusion. It went fairly well, all things considered.
The main wrinkle this year is the introduction of keepers. This year, each team was given the option of keeping three players on the roster. Most took this opportunity very seriously, although someone spent a roster spot on the Bears D. This person may also have drafted Ochocinco in the 4th round. I’m saying no more.
You may also notice we had a little division reshuffle, which will now take place every three years. Tough to say so early, but it looks as though the MTL West may be the new AL East. We’ve also introduce FAAB, which means each team takes a little more ‘agency’ over their ‘free agency’, no long shall we rely on the luck of the waiver system. We now start each season with $200 to bid on free agents with. Notable splashes so far include $15 on Dexter McCluster, and an MTL record $27 on Eric Decker. We shall see…
This week sees some divisional clashes, and two huge early match ups between the two former MTL Champs (both currently 2-0 to boot), the Hustle and the Giant Rats, and an MTL West smash between the Tantrum and the Game Breds (formerly known as the… someone else. It’s McComb’s team. Sorry, I had two beers at lunch. The Life Of A Corporate Lobbyist. #humblebrag)
I will try to update next week, promise.
